Rob Connor | glimmers - the album
Hi! My name is Rob Connor, I'm a Scottish pianist and composer based in Berlin.
It’s my great pleasure to share with you my debut album for solo piano, glimmers. I am on the search for a label partner to to help me bring glimmers to the world.
glimmers carries the hallmarks of a half-a-lifetime-long journey in music. Rob’s many influences can be heard, and at the same time, something home-grown, and deeply-rooted shines through. The title glimmers comes from a sense of hopefulness which ferries the album’s journey onwards. Though started on hopeful foundations, glimmers inevitably explores a wide range of emotional states, from despair, to struggle, from struggle to peace, happiness and joy. With one hand, glimmers stretches forward, striving for originality and innovative piano textures. At the same time, the other hand reaches back into the past, paying homage to classical form and language. From the wild, pulsating rhythms of ‘Waves’, to the healing harmonics of ‘To Nurture’, glimmers promises both an enthralling experience on the concert stage and intimate moments of meditation, listening at home.
glimmers was recorded in Studio Börne, Berlin, in November 2023. My producer and I pulled no punches in trying to deliver the highest quality product possible, the centrepiece being the pristine and characteristic sounds of the recording itself. In addition to the recording we also made a full-length live album and accompanying video production in front of an audience of over 50 of my long-time supporters.
My vision
LIVE: A piano recital revival, with the compositions themselves taking centre-stage. My passion for and extensive experience as a classical pianist, and my strong desire to bring glimmers to wider audiences makes live performance an essential part of my work.
SYNC: Synchronising potential. I believe that, and my listeners have remarked that my music is very ’syncable’. I can hear ‘glimmers’ as much at home in a modern commercial as a cinematic period-drama. I hope to one day build on my experience as a film composer. All 12 compositions of glimmers will be available in full-score sheet music.
STREAM: the 12 original compositions of glimmers and 12+ unreleased ‘felt’ piano songs ready to find their way onto playlists, form a strong foundation for streaming and future releases.
